Pumpkin Time
So we went to Hunter's Farm tonight. Usually we go earlier in the month, but our schedules have been complicated. The plan is to carve them tomorrow (the 30th) when Brian (Phil's brother) is here. He just moved to Seattle from Maryland, and I'm so excited he's here!
I was disappointed that it was obviously past the prime pumpkin time. It took a while to find ones that weren't smashed or rotting. But, the boys had a good time getting dirty and playing with the pygmy goats. Well, maybe I had more fun with the goats than the boys.
Fetchez la vache! Happy 30th
We celebrated Phil's 30th this weekend by going to Spamalot with our friends Martin, Susan, Mike and Chrissie. It was hilarious, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Even the friends that didn't like musicals were laughing along with the rest of us. It didn't seem like a musical to me because I'm so familiar with the story in a different context. The numbers were all really well done, and even poked fun at the fact that it was indeed a musical.
The scenery was so inventive and well done. It provided amazing depth to the stage and there was really creative use of scrims. The digital animation was great.. I was amazed at the applications and the way it was used throughout the show. I think the sound could have been better amplified..not sure what was going on with the system. Seemed a little off - maybe the gains weren't right?
The whole show stayed very true to classic Python behaviour and artwork. If you've got the chance, and you're into Monty Python - check it out! It made me almost miss working in theater...almost.
Disclaimer: I don't condone the actual catapulting of cows. Chickens, maybe.
